Learning Spanish with reading books for intermediate and advance level

There are many advantages of learning Spanish with reading books.

If you are in an intermediate or an advanced level it can boost your learning curve lot. Here are some advantages of learning with books:

  1. Fast vocabulary and phrases building
  2. Improvement of your reading skills
  3. Improvement of your pronunciation (if reading aloud)
  4. Improvement of your grammar

If you like reading a lot, learning with books can help you tremendously.  It is however very important that you carefully choose the book for reading. If you are in an intermediate level you should not read a book that is written in a very “sophisticated”  Spanish. This might de-motivate you.  Try to find a book that interests you and a book that is written in Spanish you comprehend easily. You can test it with reading couple of pages of that book. If you can understand easily without knowing some of the words that come up, then this might just be the right book for you. Your progress will be faster if you choose the right book. If you choose a book that is not so easy to read then you might spend a lot of time translating the book and so your progress will not be that fast.

You can also improve your pronunciation with reading. That would require some reading aloud.

If you want even go one step further you can visit public reading in bookstores or some other places. From time to time promotions of certain books are organized where an author of a book, which is being sold at the moment, does a reading. This would give you a chance to follow the text and also listen to the author.

Another way to improve your pronunciation with books is buy books with CDs. Some books have their recorded equivalent. You can listen to the CD in a car   while driving to work or you can listen at home and take it by paragraphs or by chapters. You can listen to a paragraph or a chapter and follow with your eyes in the book and then you can read that same paragraph or chapter a loud.

There are many books that I can recommend   for both levels. However for an advanced level there is no need for a recommendation as you can choose any book you want.  If you are in an intermediate level  you can choose from one of the books below or you can choose any book you like that corresponds your level of proficiency:

  1. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout of your website? Its very well written; I really like what you have got to say. But maybe you can add a a bit more in the way of written content so people could connect to it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two photographs. Maybe you could space it out better?
